On Thursday, Henleyfield Community Center will be hosting its first-ever Family Movie Night.
Henleyfield COMmunity Inc. Treasurer Loren Fortenberry said movie to be featured will be “The Sandlot” and it will be shown under the community center’s pavilion. She said they wanted to show the movie as a throwback to when the area used to be a baseball park. She said the location of the pavilion used to be a tee-ball field and there were a lot of baseball and softball fields in the area before the community center was built.
Fortenberry said members of the community center wanted to try showing a movie to see how it goes.
She said the movie screen will be set up underneath the pavilion just in case it rains. She encourages everyone to bring their own blanket or chair to sit on. Fortenberry said there will be picnic tables available, but there is limited seating available.
The fee to attend is $2 per person and will include water and popcorn. Other concessions including nachos, cookies and candy will be available for purchase.
Fortenberry said the movie night is open to all ages and will be a great event for families to spend a night doing something fun.
The movie night will begin 6 p.m. For more information, Fortenberry can be reached at 601-590-4690.
