Pregnancy Support Services, also known as Sav-A-Life of the Pearl River Area, will be hosting its 18th annual Walk for Life fundraiser on April 28.
Sav-A-Life is a pro-life ministry that offers pregnancy support services to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies, said Sav-A-Life director Bonita Wynn.
Wynn said the fundraiser is part of their goal to raise community awareness that abortions are unnecessary and undesirable in the region.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used toward the operation of Pregnancy Support Services.
Wynn said that since every child deserves to have a birthday, this year’s theme for the walk is “Babies Lives Matter,” Wynn said.
The walk will provide Wynn with an opportunity to reach out to community members and inform them of the services offered by the center. To accomplish that goal, she encourages more people to participate in the walk.
The center offers free pregnancy tests, free limited ultrasound and counseling by trained volunteers.
Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Pregnancy Support Services center, located at 1101 Goodyear Blvd., Picyaune.
The event will also feature guest speaker Don Sheldon, a former center Board member. He will speak about the center and the services it offers.
The walk will start shortly after 9 a.m. The route will be from the center, to Jack Read Park before ending back at the center.
When the walk ends at the center, balloons will be released in remembrance of children who were aborted, Wynn said.
“I have a desire to see babies,” Wynn said, “We want to share the word of God in the hearts of men and women so they can make informed decisions at the right time, saving them from life-long regret.”
The event is free to the public but donations will be accepted.
