The Poplarville Woman’s Club is hosting its annual Spring Bunco fundraiser on March 13.
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Poplarville.
Gina Weir, Club president, said the the game is held twice a year as a method to raise money for projects.
Weir said the proceeds provide scholarships to high school seniors unable to afford college expenses.
“It’s a much needed project, schools cannot provide everything that students need,” Weir said.
She said money is also set aside to purchase Secret Santa gifts for use during Christmas.
Weir said the proceeds also pay for Keep Poplarville Beautiful activities.
During last fall’s fundraiser, the club raised $400 and donated it to the scholarship program.
Weir feels the Club is fortunate to have the opportunity to support several causes in town, such as the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home’s Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, which that takes place each October. The Club also hosts raffles off a cake to sponsor the walk.
Weir said the club also raises funds during the annual Trash To Treasure downtown and flea market sale that takes place in May.
Weir hopes members of the community participate in the upcoming Bunco game to help the Club support the community.
Tickets are $10 and there will be door prizes. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
