Last month, the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors appointed five members to a Board that will serve on the county’s Economic Development Council.
County Administrator Adrain Lumpkin said the Board invited all five members to attend the next meeting, scheduled for April 2, to discuss ideas and the role of each member in the Council.
“The Board will talk to them and get some direction on what we are expecting,” Lumpkin said.
According to previous coverage, each Supervisor appointed an individual to the Council who they thought would further the cause of attracting more businesses to Pearl River County.
Lumpkin said the Board is currently working with attorneys in Jackson to complete paperwork required to establish the organization. He said he expects the paperwork to be complete in the next 90-120 days.
He said the once the paperwork is complete, the Board will advertise for an executive director to serve on the Council. The Board is also seeking office space the Council can occupy once the executive director is hired, Lumpkin said.
Lumpkin said a plan for the Council’s meetings will be discussed during the next Board meeting.
