The Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce is set to start holding Movies on Main once again. The first event is set for March 19 and will be held at the Town Green in Downtown Poplarville at 7 p.m.

Greg Holcomb, chairman of Poplarville Movies on Main, said each year four movie screenings are held in partnership with the Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Pearl River Community College student government association.

Holcomb said this time several sponsors stepped forward to sponsor the event.

He said funds contributed by the sponsors pays for organization of the event.  Screening equipment is provided by the student government association at PRCC.

Holcomb said the Chamber helps Movies on Main with the distribution of flyers and posters across town, including elementary schools in Poplarville.

The event is free and open to public. Everyone planning to attend is advised to bring a chair and blanket, according to a release from the organization.

Holcomb said he is looking forward to a great family event and hopes to see increased participation from the community.

“The more ambitious we get with it, the more we can progress on other events,” Holcomb said.
