Here in Pearl River County we’re blessed to have a place for our senior citizens to gather that allows them not only an opportunity to socialize, but also engage in weekly workshops and fun activities.

From playing bingo, engaging in art lessons to organizing field trips, the seniors of our community get to experience it all at the Senior Center of South Pearl River County. 

Visiting the Senior Center is always a great feeling especially when you can meet and interact with people who have seen so much in life.

During my recent visit to the Center, I got a chance to witness a game of bingo.

Even though I reveled in the excitement each participant displayed when they had the winning hand, I did experience some disappointment.

As each elated winner went to the prize table to collect their winnings, the pickings were very slim.

One of the attendees even expressed her disappointment about the fact that at times there aren’t enough prizes to give to the winners. 

But keep in mind, all prizes were donations made by citizens of Pearl River County.

The Senior Center of South Pearl works with a tight budget, and as such relies on the generosity of our community to make its programs and activities the biggest success possible.

With that in mind, it is my hope that someone in the community will step up to provide our senior citizens at the center with prizes worthy of celebrating when the win a bingo game, place first in a art contest or just need something to brighten their spirits.
