Supervisors approve vest purchases, lot repairs

During Monday’s Board of Supervisors Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison requested permission to purchase new bulletproof vests.
The Board approved his request to purchase nine vests for $27,000.
In addition, the Board approved Pearl River County Road Department’s request to repair 5-6 potholes in the High School Parking lot. The budget for the repairs was not discussed in the meeting.
County Administrator Adrian Lumpkin said the aim would be to first work on a huge pothole in the front parking lot of the school. The work is expected to take place during the Christmas break so there will be no cars on the lot
A Victim Assistance Grant through the District Attorney’s office was also acknowledged during the meeting. The amount of $160,000 to be given to two victim coordinators was submitted to the state for reimbursement.
Among other matters approved, The Board approved the Circuit Court order to increasing the salary for District 15th Circuit Judge Anthony Mozingo to $15,000 a year.
Sandra Baker from District 5 and Mary Beth Magee from District 3 were reappointed the Trustees of Pearl River County Library System Board.
Board also agreed to advertise in the Mississippi Bicentennial Business Guide at a rate of $895 for a one-page ad.
