Funeral services for Mary Alice McGill, 59, of Picayune, will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at East Jerusalem Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Mark will officiate at the service. Rev. Brian K. Dees is pastor.
Mary Alice was born August 10, 1958 to the late Hattie Mae Brown Jones and Richard Jones in Bay Springs, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Bay Springs High School.
As a pre-teen, Mary Alice lost her mother. Being the eldest of nine children, she assumed a mother’s duties and assisted in the raising of her younger siblings. She relocated to Picayune, Mississippi and united in holy matrimony to Albert McGill on April 10, 1997.
Mary Alice was a homemaker. She enjoyed making woodwork, such as cabinetry and painting them.
Mary Alice McGill ended this earthly life on December 20, 2017 at Miller County Nursing Home in Colquitt, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Hattie Mae Jones; her only son, Richard Lee Jones; and one brother, Collins Jones.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her devoted husband of 20 + years, Albert McGill; her only daughter, Temeka Johns; stepchildren, Melissa (Curtis) McDougle, of Pearl River, Louisiana, Charmayne McGill, Kevin (Deidre) McGill, of Picayune, Stephanie McGill. Of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Kimberly Smith, of Slidell; siblings, Acie Mae Jones, Eunice Jones Joliet, Charles (Lessie Mae) Jones, Carolyn (Andrew) Ridgeway, Lee Melvin Jones, of Stringer, Marie Sanders, of Hattiesburg, and Willie Charles Jones, of California; two aunts, Shirley Gunner and Paulene (Jabert) Allen, both of Laurel, Mississippi; seven sisters-in-law, Betty Mark, Daisy (Matthew) Evans, of Houston, Texas, Kathleen Rawls, Gulfport, Mississippi, Linda McGill, Mary (Thomas) Blanks, Cynthia (Jerry) Ross, and Belinda McGill; one brother-in-law, Charles (Barbara) McGill; one God-daughter, Lois Patrick; seventeen grandchildren, Jorden, Jamoiro, Da’Nyia, Kahila, Gabella, JaZamine, Courtney, Christian, Eric, Amiah, Kevin, Jr., Keenan, Arianna, Melodie, Tyler, Kennedi, and M’Kenzie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to service. Interment will in the Picayune Cemetery. Repast will be held at New Beginning Baptist Church, Rev. Joey Mark is pastor.
