Recognizing the deserving

The Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Award Luncheon took place Thursday at Scooter’s and I had the opportunity to attend the event.
I never attended an events like that before, therefore I didn’t know what to expect.
Before the event started, I made my way around the room and introduced myself to other attendees in an effort to meet people who live in and around the community of Poplarville.
When guest speaker State Representative Stacey Wilkes gave her speech, she spoke highly of Poplarville and Pearl River County and I started to think about how moving to this area has been a great decision.
When the award ceremony started, every person responsible for presenting an award gave a unique speech.
Each speech was different and showed that every award winner earned their recognition based on their hard work and dedication.
Detailing everything each winner accomplished to receive the nomination was a great way to let everyone know the efforts of those individuals and how they’re helping Poplarville become a better place to live. At the end of the luncheon, I started to think about how the Chamber of Commerce held a great event for everyone in attendance. Everyone was friendly and there was more than enough food and drink for everyone for a close-to-perfect event.
I also thought about how the Chamber of Commerce and everyone in attendance took time out of their day to attend the luncheon in order to recognize these individuals who help the community grow daily.
It’s nice to see the Chamber recognize its citizens and all the hard work that they do to help Poplarville become a better place.
