Picayune Police conducts Operation Special Delivery

A joint undercover operation between the Picayune Police Department and several state and federal agencies resulted in the arrest of a Picayune resident.
On April 4 at 3:28 p.m., narcotics detectives, along with the U.S. Postal Inspector Service, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Department of Homeland Security and Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department narcotics investigators conducted “Operation Special Delivery” in reference to the alleged sale of narcotics through the postal service, a Picayune Police Department press release states.
During the investigation, officials learned marijuana was allegedly being sold through the postal service. Investigators established an undercover operation at 311 East Third Street where the suspicious package was addressed, the release states.
The package contained approximately one pound of a green leafy substance believed to be hydroponic marijuana, with a street value of around $2,800, the release states.
During the operation, an undercover agent with the U.S. Postal Inspector Service made contact with the suspect, identified as Kunzaya Lamar Johnson, 39, of that address, who signed for the package, according to the release.
Upon signing for the package, Johnson was detained by undercover detectives and gave consent to search the residence, according to the release.
In the master bedroom, investigators located one chrome Cobra .3800 handgun and one black digital scale with green leafy residue on the bed in plain view, the release states.
On the nightstand, investigators found several items of drug paraphernalia used to inhale marijuana, the release states.
Johnson was arrested by the Picayune Police Department for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and possession of paraphernalia.
