Dorothy Carol “Dot” Smith Bilbo, 79, of Poplarville, Mississippi, died on Monday, January 30, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at White Funeral Home, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, Miss., 39470 on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Bryant Barnes will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Poplarville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends and have visitation from 11:00 a.m. until services, Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bilbo was born December 25, 1937 in Poplarville to Leo M. Smith, Sr. and Hilda Amacker Smith. She was an alumnus of Pearl River Community College, a certified hospital and nursing home administrator, and a member of First Baptist Church of Poplarville for over fifty years. She retired as the administrator of the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home after 53 years of service. She touched the lives of many and will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Bilbo; and one brother, Leo M. “Peanut” Smith, Jr.
Family members include two daughters, Hilda (James Minor) Harwell, Carol (Sean) Rains; two siblings, Charles W. (Deborah) Smith, June (Harry) Garrett; four grandchildren, Blake Bilbo Harwell, Weston Smith Harwell, Riley Allen (Kolyn) Smith, Seana Carol Rains; two great-grandchildren, Mooney Monroe Smith, and Romy Renee Smith.
