Richardson-Ozona Road and Highland Parkway done by Christmas?

Two Road projects that were expected to be complete by the end of the year appear to still be on target.
County Engineer Les Dungan said the project to relocate Richardson Ozona Road is nearly complete, but is waiting on one thing, an inch of asphalt to be installed. Work along Highland Parkway is awaiting more than four inches of asphalt.
Dungan said since the same company working on the Richardson Ozona Road relocation project is also working on fixing Highland Parkway, which is just across U.S. 11, the contractor is waiting until conditions are right to conduct paving work on both projects.
Work to Highland Parkway aims to repair base failures found after the road was initially paved last year in May. For a short time the public was using the road, but when the road began to break apart, it was closed.
City Engineer Vernon Moore said repairs to Highland Parkway are also nearly complete. Most of that work involved reclaiming the old asphalt and mixing it with concrete before reusing the mixture as a more solid base.
That mixture is now installed, and now the road only needs four and a half inches of asphalt to move to the next step to get it ready for public use, Moore said.
After the asphalt is poured, then the crews will have to smooth and compact that road.
Dungan expects both roads to be complete in time for Christmas.
“We’re excited about getting the roads complete,” Dungan said.
