Investigators with the Picayune Police Department are searching for suspects involved in a string of vandalism to vehicles and other property.
Between 9 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 6:30 a.m. the next day, a vandal entered private property on 1605 N. Beech Street, according to a report filed with the department.
The report states that the suspect entered the property and painted a large black line on the driver’s side of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. The suspect also painted profanity on a white vintage race car trailer, the report states.
The complainant estimated the act caused $2,000 in damages and there is no surveillance system in that area, the report states.
According to a separate report, between 11:50 and 11:53 p.m., surveillance footage captured an unknown white male vandalizing property at the Stop & Go gas station on N. Beech Street.
Footage shows the suspect spray-painting “God is Gay” on the driver’s side of the front and rear door of a 2011 Honda Odyssey.
When reviewing the footage, the responding officer noticed the suspect, who was wearing a dark t-shirt, shorts, a dark ball cap and having hair below his shoulders, standing on the porch looking through an ashtray before damaging an illuminated business sign and painting a large “X” on a stop sign before fleeing the scene.
The complainant estimated the damage to be $1,600.
In a third incident, two vehicles on Teague Street and Third Avenue were spray painted with phallic symbols some time between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Magri said.
Magri said he believes these incidents were committed by the same suspect.
