The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department worked an apparent suicide attempt on Saturday, which resulted in the man’s death several days later.
Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the department received a call about the incident that day at about noon.
The caller reported that her husband was found hanging from a tree in front of their house, located in the 3500 block of Miss. 43. Ogden said it appeared from their investigation that the man, identified as 49-year-old Timothy Primeaux, had been suffering from some mental issues, and it appears he attempted to commit suicide.
Emergency responders were able to get him down from the tree, discovering he was still alive. Ogden said Primeaux was then taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg for treatment, where medical staff attempted to revive him.
Primeaux was removed from life support Wednesday and his organs were donated, Ogden said.
