The talented folks of Pearl River County

Ok, I’ll admit it; I’ve never seen any of the Star Wars films. (Waits for the obligatory moment of stunned disbelief and shocked expressions.)
I get those a lot when people discover I haven’t seen the movies, don’t know who Han Solo is or understand the importance of Luke Skywalker’s father.
One day I shall view these films and maybe sooner than I think.
This week’s lifestyle featured local young movie star Cailey Fleming. She is by far one of the most entertaining, motivated and intelligent people I’ve ever met.
Last weekend, millions caught a glimpse of Cailey on the big screen in the year’s biggest film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
At the mere age of 8, Cailey is well on her way to achieving a name for herself in the world we call Hollywood.
What I’m most in awe of, despite her obvious talent, is her desire to achieve her dream.
She is a young lady who knows what she wants and is not afraid to get it.
Yet, she is also afforded the opportunity to grow up in Pearl River County surrounded by family and friends, which will provide her roots and a sense of what’s most important.
I admire her gumption to follow her dreams at a young age. I wish I had just an ounce of it in my little finger.
As I continue to hear the stories of the people in this county, I, along with you dear reader, realize the vast amount of unique talents budding here.
From the school and community theater groups to the variety of art groups here, this community definitely has people that will go far in life.
What they also have, which we all have in common, is a grounded sense of community and family, which is richly cultivated here in Pearl River County.
