Stores, government offices close early for New Years

This week, government offices and some businesses will be closed in observance of the New Year’s holiday.
All county and city offices in both Picayune and Poplarville will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Normal business hours will resume on Jan. 4.
In Picayune, garbage will be picked up on Jan. 2 instead of the regular Friday schedule. Likewise in Poplarville, the garbage service will run on Saturday.
The Pearl River County Library System will be closed Jan. 1 and Jan. 2 and will resume regular hours on Jan 4.
In Poplarville, Rameys and Greers grocery stores will be open their regular hours both New Year’s Eve and Day.
In Picayune, both Winn Dixie grocery stores will be open regular hours, as well as Claiborne Hill.
Make plans to pick up prescriptions on New Year’s Eve, as many local pharmacies will be closed New Year’s Day.
For residents of Picayune, Picayune Drug Co. will be open New Year’s Eve, but closed New Year’s Day. City Rexall Drugs will be open New Year’s Eve and closed Jan. 1. Fred’s Westside Pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. New Year’s Eve and closed New Year’s Day.
Rite Aid will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. The pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Both the Highway 43 and Highway 11 Walgreens locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days and the pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve and closed New Year’s Day.
CVS Pharmacy will be open regular hours both days and the pharmacy will be open from noon to 6 p.m. New Year’s Day.
In Poplarville, Boone’s Pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve and closed New Year’s Day. Fred’s store will be open regular hours and the pharmacy will be closed New Year’s Day. Pearl River Drug Co. will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve and closed New Year’s Day.
