Republican Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann will make an appearance in Pearl River County today as part of his campaign for re-election.
Hosemann is set to visit the Italian Grill and Pizzeria in Picayune at 11:30 a.m. to speak about his work as the secretary of state and his plans for the next four years if re-elected, said Pamela Weaver, the communications director for the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office.
“He also plans to answer any questions from the community regarding Initiative 42,” Weaver said.
Hosemann was sworn into office in November 2007 and serves as Mississippi’s eighth secretary of state since 1900. Throughout his career, Hosemann has been involved in Mississippi affairs as chairman of the board of Mississippi Blood Services, treasurer of the Jackson Medical Mall Association and a member on the board of directors for Jackson State University Development Foundation. Hosemann also served his country in the United States Army Reserves, according to the Mississippi Secretary of State’s website.
Hosemann is running against Democrat Charles E. Graham and the Reform Party’s Randy Walker for Mississippi Secretary of State. Mississippi voters will be able to choose their preferred candidate during the general election on Nov. 3.
The Italian Grill and Pizzeria is located at 1702 Highway 11.
