After conducting a yearlong investigation focusing on alleged drug activity in Picayune, narcotics detectives with the Picayune Police Department recently arrested six suspects wanted on drug related charges. The operation, known as Who’s Next, is ongoing and police say more arrests are coming.

On Oct. 7, narcotics detectives conducted surveillance of 201 Clark St. in search of the homeowner, 53-year-old Darryl Drummond. At 8:30 p.m., detectives entered the residence after securing a search warrant and found Drummond injecting a liquid substance believed to be oxycodone into his person, Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

Investigators found several prescription pills believed to be oxycodone and used syringes throughout the residence, Magri said.

Detectives also found a second suspect inside the home, 48-year-old Donald Wood of 275 Magnolia Drive, who had allegedly given Drummond the oxycodone pills. Woods was charged with transfer of a controlled substance and later charged on Oct. 13 on a warrant for the sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church, Magri said. Drummond was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. The Mississippi Department of Corrections placed a hold on Drummond for a probation violation, Magri said.

In another case, narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on Oct. 12 at 6:39 p.m. at the home of 40-year-old Stephen Lowe of 1716 Adcox Road, who was wanted for several arrest warrants, Magri said. When investigators entered the residence, they observed hydrocodone on Lowe’s bedroom dresser and a bloody towel and a used cotton ball on the nightstand. Cotton balls are commonly used as filters when using syringes to inject a controlled substance into the body. Detectives also located two used syringes inside a bag in Lowe’s closet, Magri said.

Lowe was taken into custody on the following warrants: two counts of the sale, transfer or possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a school or church, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, three misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and two counts of a sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church, Magri said.

Lowe was additionally charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. MDOC placed a hold on Lowe for a probation violation, Magri said.

In another case, on Oct. 12 at 11:27 p.m., narcotics detectives arrested 48-year-old Kim Bossier of 114 Antoinette Drive, at the Criminal Justice Center for an outstanding warrant for the sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church. A hold was placed on Bossier by MDOC for probation violation, Magri said.

In another case, narcotics detectives arrested 55-year-old Bernard Lawrence of 63 Dickerson Road, for the sale of a controlled substance, Magri said.

The most recent suspect arrested as part of the operation was 35-year-old Senque Wright of 1405 Camilla Cove on Oct. 14. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department placed a hold on Wright for the sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church, Magri said.

“These warrant arrests are a result of a yearlong undercover operation that the narcotics division has been conducting throughout the city in an attempt to rid the city of drug dealers,” Magri said.

The investigation— dubbed Operation, Who’s Next?—  is currently ongoing. Magri said they have numerous arrest warrants and plan to continue making arrests in the following weeks.

Picayune Chief of Police Bryan Dawsey said, “Drug dealers beware, if you’re selling narcotics inside the city of Picayune, the narcotics division is working hard to remove you from the city streets.”
