OBIT Sandra Montgomery

Sandra May Jenkins Montgomery 62, of Picayune entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at her home.
Sandra was born on September 8, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late James Henry and Mildred LeMay Jenkins.
Sandra grew up and attended St. Katherine Catholic School and graduated from Riverdale High School in Jefferson parish, Louisiana.  To pursue her nursing profession, Sandra attended Sidney Collier Site Delgado Community College.
Sandra’s nursing career began at Oschner Hospital, she continued her career at Charity hospital as a Pediatric Nurse for thirty two years retiring after Hurricane Katrina. Sandra was a dedicated nurse who enjoyed the night shift and all the children who received her loving care. Sandra’s commitment to her profession led her to begin working with PSA as a home health care pediatric nurse where she worked over ten years caring for children in their home.
Her love and dedication for nursing was phenomenal.  She continued to do home health care until her illness prevented her from working.
Sandra met and fell in love with William Montgomery; and, they moved to Picayune, Mississippi. Sandra loved her husband of twenty five years and had a special love for her son, Byron Snipes. Sandra was an epitome of hard work, dedication, and a woman who loved her family and friends.  No matter when you talked or saw Sandra, you were greeted with her warm smile.  Sandra was the role model for family gatherings.  She enjoyed fellowshipping with her family and friends, cooking New Orleans and Cajun cuisine, gardening, and traveling.
Sandra was the family birthday historian and she always celebrated the birthdays with your favorite cake and ice-cream.
Sandra was instrumental in sharing her life stories so you could be a better person. Sandra had a unique way of communicating with people, we all know Sandra loved to “talk”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and one son, William Montgomery, III.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, William Montgomery; sons, Byron Snipes, Matthew (Kelly) Montgomery, Stephen Montgomery, and Mark (Nina) Montgomery; daughter, Laura Montgomery; sisters, Stella (Clayton) Rayfield and Beverly (Rogers) Gray; brothers, James Perry (Ursula) Jenkins, John Scott (Dorene) Jenkins, and Stephen Anthony Jenkins; grandchildren, Sharae’ Ballon, Zaena Ballon, Michael Epps, Zaria Keith, Nadia, Kaylynn, Matthew, Tia, Esteban, Desaria, Ravia and Rhysi Montgomery; nieces and nephews, Aisha (Eric) Smith, Jamal (Chundra) Jenkins, Dominique Gadson, Mario Gray, James Jenkins, Jr, Jenea’ and Deron Jenkins; sisters-in law, Karen Grimes, Marsha Fisher; brothers in law, Thomas Montgomery and Robert Montgomery, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at  10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1000 Goodyear Blvd. Picayune, Mississippi 39466 under the direction of Southern Mississippi Funeral Services.
