Not everyone is a Saints fan

I am sure by now all of you know I am the sports reporter here at the Item.
You also know how much I love sports, but what you might not know is how fascinated I am by other sports fans. I love hearing the stories behind why people are fans of certain teams.
When I’m driving, if I see a team sticker on the back of someone’s car I will go out of my way to see what team that sticker represents. I can’t help myself, and if I get the opportunity I’ll ask why the person is a fan of that team.
Most of the time, the fan base of the hometown team, or the closest team, will be represented the most.
I love when I find a team represented that is not native to the area. For example, finding a Cincinnati Reds fan in Mississippi makes me want to know their story. Were you born in Ohio? Do you have family in that part of the country? What brought you down south?
Another reason I am particularly interested in which teams are represented in our community is because I want to put content on the sports page that readers are interested in. I know the majority of football fans around here cheer for the Saints and the Tigers, for obvious reasons.
However, I want to know what other teams have fans in our county from any sport. If you find yourself with a free minute this week send me an email at sylvie.mccarthy@picayuneitem.com, and tell me who your favorite team is. Also, give me the story behind why that’s your team.
I look forward to hearing from you.
