The Poplarville High School Cheerleading team is gearing up to host a fundraising event for the entire family called Mickey on Main on Saturday, April 25.
Families will have the chance to pose for pictures with Walt Disney World characters during the character breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the character lunch from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Cheerleading Coach Sarah Smith said.
One of the cheerleader’s parents, Kristi Harris, came up with the idea and hopes the proceeds will help cover the team’s expenses throughout the year.
“We’re looking to raise funds for our summer camp coming up, our state competition, last year we came in third, and this year we would like to go to nationals if we could raise the necessary funds,” Harris said.
The event will be held at Scooters restaurant in Poplarville and Poplarville’s Main Street green space.
Tickets are $25 per person and admission is free for children under two-years-old, Smith said.
Tickets are limited so Harris encourages families to pre-purchase their tickets this week.
“Right now our goal is to sell 200 tickets and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the team,” Harris said.
Smith said the squad is excited to dress up in costumes and interact with the children.
“They will be dressing up as Disney princesses and characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck and Daisy,” Smith said.
Each ticket includes food, drinks and desserts and can be purchased at Poplarville High School’s front office.
