Roads closed for repairs

Beginning today, the Pearl River County Road Department will close three county roads in order to replace cross-drain culverts.
“None of the culverts were damaged, the culverts are being replaced due to routine wear and tear of a metal culvert,” PRC Road Department Administrative Assistant Tammy Johnson said.
The repairs are being made during the school district’s spring break holiday, because there is less traffic during the day, Johnson said.
Today, Burgetown Road, near the Pearl River County Alternative School campus will be closed from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Johnson said.
The stretch of Dupont-Hartschapel Road between Buck Kirkland Road and Garrett-McGill Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. This culvert replacement was due to be completed last week, but due to some setbacks with AT&T lines, the work is now expected to be completed by Wednesday, April 1, Johnson said.
Wednesday, Entriken Road, which is approximately .2 miles from Sycamore Road, will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The PRC Road Department would like to advise residents to make every effort to plan an alternate route during these closings.
