Monday, Feb. 16 is Presidents Day, and a number of local government offices will be closed in observance of the national holiday.
Pearl River County Administrator Adrain Lumpkin said all county offices will be closed on Monday.
Picayune City Manager Jim Luke’s office confirmed that city of Picayune offices will be closed as well.
The Picayune Public Works Department said that the regularly scheduled garbage collection will not be affected by Presidents Day. City residents who ordinarily have their trash picked up on Monday can still plan for that service to take place despite the holiday.
Presidents Day is included on the list of 10 yearly holidays observed by the United States Postal Service. Therefore, every post office in Pearl River County will be closed on Monday.
The Poplarville Chamber of Commerce will be closed for Presidents Day.
The following Picayune pharmacies will be open for their normal business hours: Fred’s West Side Pharmacy, Picayune Drug Company Inc., Medical Center Pharmacy and City Rexall Drugs.
In Poplarville, both Boone’s Pharmacy and Pearl River Drug Company will be open during regular business hours.
CVS, Walgreens and Winn-Dixie pharmacies will also be open on Presidents Day.
Winn-Dixie and Claiborne Hill grocery stores will maintain their normal hours of business, and Walmart will remain open for 24 hours a day as usual.
First responders will be available in the event of an emergency.
