Joy Pearson Traylor

Joy Pearson Traylor, 90, of Picayune, Miss., passed away on December 8, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on August 13, 1923 to Walter and Susan (Spence) Pearson at Hancock County, Miss.
Joy is survived by: her sons, Errol Wayne Traylor, James Donald (Gwen) Traylor, and John Walter (Anita) Traylor; daughters, Deanie Traylor and Amelia Wells; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Armand Traylor; father, Walter Brandon Pearson; mother, Susan Elizabeth Pearson, brothers: Bruce Pearson, LeRoy Pearson, Marvin Pearson and Jewel Pearson; sisters, Lena Pearson Lee and Duree Pearson; and grandson, Daniel Traylor.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Picayune, Miss.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at the Union Baptist Church, Picayune, Miss., with the Rev. Tatum Brian officiating.
Burial will take place in the Pachuta Cemetery on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2 p.m.

About Barbara Mizell

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor. Of all the contributions she has made over her 20 years at the Item, she is most proud of the World War II book "The Greatest Generation." Barbara was born and raised in the White Sand Community on Lee Hill, she has also written many short stories about growing up on the hill.
