The Pearl River Central High School Drama 1 class will present “Almost, Maine” on April 28, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Picayune School District Auditorium.
Produced by special arrangement with the Dramatists’ Play Service based in New York, New York, the play is based in the fictional town of Almost, Maine. It has been performed throughout the United States by both professional and amateur theater companies. It features a series of short vignettes that offer glimpses into different couples and their relationships which are at various stages.
A kaleidoscope of emotions are experienced by the featured couples who deal with everything from the mundane to hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type IV, as is the case in the scene titled “This Hurts.”
The group of student performers are well equipped to tackle the subject matter in the scenes which is at times physical.
Director and PRC drama teacher, Deborah Craig, says, “I push them hard to achieve a professional product. They know that they have to meet high standards and the expectations of their audience. This can not be done with anything less that 100 percent effort.”
The price of admission for the play is $8 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door.
