John Edward “Crow” Washington, 61, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Memorial services at the Greater Pleasant Valley Baptist Church , Picayune at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 officiated by the Reverend Cornelius Washington Jr.
Interment at the Eight Street Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
He was born July 11, 1949 in Picayune, the son of Cornelius and Vivian Washington. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1968.
A resident of Grand Rapids for more than 15 years, Johnnie worked as a Maintenance Technician at the Grand Rapids Inn.
He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Velma and Sebell Magee and Y.E. and Mary Palmer; brother, Robert Lee Washington; and his long-time loving companion and mother of Corshina, Linda Bullock.
He leaves of to cherish his memory: his children: Corshina (Arthur) Hogan of Monroe, La., Ethan Elijah John Washington, Wyatt Robert Lee Washington, and Lillie Elizabeth Vivian Washington and their mother, Laura Rosales of Grand Rapids; parents, Cornelius and Vivian Washington of Picayune; siblings: Cornelius Washington Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., Barbra (Fred) Cockerham of Staatsburg, N.Y., Mary Crooks of New Orleans, La., Arbra Powell of Peoria, Ill., and Sandra Porter of Heidelberg, Miss.; a “like” sister, Lecrease Hicks of Picayune; and a “like” brother, Nick Zetona of Grand Rapids. He also leaves to cherish his memory: Barbara Lewis; his maternal aunts, Ruth McCaskill and Theodora Myles Gibbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
