Young people in Brookhaven again have a safe place to play basketball and hang out after school.
The Alexander Teen Center reopened this past Saturday after undergoing $18,000 of renovations.
A group called CAFE A+ helped lead the community effort to fix up the building that had been closed for about six to eight years. The group’s president, Steven Keys, says he hopes the center will be in good shape for decades to come.
Keys says the center will be open for sixth-graders to high school students two hours after school for three days a week in the beginning. Operation could expand with the help of volunteers.
The teen center’s first dance is scheduled for Dec. 17.
