Liberty Road at Megehee’s Creek will close Wednesday morning and will remain closed for about six weeks, said Pearl River Co. Road Manager Mike Mitchell.
“We will be doing some work at each end of the bridge and will have to close the road because it would be too dangerous to leave it open and do the work at the same time,” Mitchell said. The road will be closed to through traffic.
He said that signs will be posted at each end of the road announcing the closing.
Workcrews are planning on installing large pipes at each end of the bridge to improve drainage. Each time it rains heavily, there is flooding along the road.
“This work should eliminate the flooding along that route,” Mitchell said.
