All eight local prep basketball teams will get into region play this week.

Tonight, both Poplarville teams travel to Purvis in Region 8-4A play.

Also tonight, Picayune’s girls travel to Gulfport to face West Harrison in non-league play.

On Friday, both the Lady Tide and the Maroon Tide open Region 6-5A play against Wayne County in Waynesboro.

Also, both Pearl River Central teams are off until Friday when they host Stone in Region 6-5A action.

PRC’s games at Petal that were originally slated for this past Saturday have been moved to this Saturday afternoon.

Finally, both Hancock teams host Harrison Central tonight in Region 8-6A action.

• Also, on Monday Night Pearl River CC beat Loyola’s JV 87-53 as Phillip Crawford scored 15 points and had six rebounds while Kegan Houston had 13 points and three steals and Kenderek Washington scored 11.
