LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) — A 53-year-old Lucedale man died after he pulled in front of an oncoming 18-wheeler in George County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Johnny Poulos said Alvin C. Cox was southbound on Mississippi 63 Tuesday when he tried to cross the westbound lane of U.S. 98 and was struck by a westbound 18-wheeler. The truck hit the left side of the car.

Poulos said Cox was wearing a seat belt but died at the scene.

Poulos told The Sun Herald that no charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
