Alfonso Rivera Guadiana has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexual battery on a woman who ran a mission house for a Baptist church in Gulfport.

Harrison County prosecutors said the crime was committed on Feb. 10, after the victim drove Guadiana to a Walmart so he could pick up supplies.

When they returned to the mission, Guadiana forced his way inside and raped her.

Prosecutors told the jury Guadiana was living in the Gulfport area at the time of the sexual battery. He’s been in custody since his arrest.

Prosecutors say immigration officials have a hold on Guadiana. He’s supposed to be deported once he completes his sentence.

He was sentenced Wednesday.
