Trial to begin Monday in teen’s murder case

Trial is scheduled to begin Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court for a 16-year-old accused in the slaying of a Hattiesburg man killed last year after he stopped at a Moss Point gas station to ask directions to a football game.
The Mississippi Press reports that Darwin Wells has pleaded innocent to capital murder charges in the death 44-year-old Michael David Porter.
Also facing capital murder charges are 15-year-old Terry Hye Jr., 14-year-old Telvin Benjamin and 17-year-old Alonzo Kelly. Their trial dates haven’t been set.
All four Moss Point teens could face life in prison without parole if convicted.
