Lamar County has decided to just say no when it comes to the adult entertainment industry.

The Board of Supervisors Tuesday agreed to rewrite a proposed zoning ordinance that would have placed severe requirements to establish adult clubs/bookstores, limiting them to particular areas.

The board instructed senior planner Michael Hershman to rewrite the sections dealing with the industry, banning such businesses in any of the zoned areas.

Unzoned portions of the county would be covered by an ordinance already on the books prohibiting adult entertainment.
