A new study says that between 1851 and 2008 the number of hurricanes in the North Atlantic increased, but that the severity of storms has not.
The study was done by researchers at Clemson University and Mississippi State University.
Their conclusions, based on statistical analysis and available records, contradicts research that says hurricanes have gotten worse with global warming.
The study also found no evidence that the United States is getting hit with more intense storms.
