The capital murder trial of a man charged in the robbing and slaying of University of Mississippi track star Rodney Lockhart has been delayed.
Trial for Christian Bonner was slated to begin Monday, but it was delayed because the defendant’s lawyer is traveling to Africa. Jackson attorney Kevin Camp, who is representing Bonner, said no new trial date was set.
The trial was delayed in October and January because Camp was fulfilling his duty as Judge Advocate General for the armed forces.
Bonner is accused of shooting the 20-year-old Lockhart in the head during a September 2007 robbery. Lockhart’s body was found Sept. 29 at his off-campus apartment.
Bonner was arrested a week later.
