A Mobile man has been killed after being struck by a train in Jackson County.
Sheriff Mike Byrd says the man was lying on the U.S. Highway 90 railroad tracks in the Pecan community when the CSX train hit him about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
The man’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
County Coroner Vicki Broadus says the man died at the scene. She said the cause of death was general massive trauma.
Though foul play was not suspected, Byrd said the accident remained under investigation.
