On Tuesday, March 24 the Concert Choir and gifted students from South Side Upper Elementary took a field trip to the Mississippi State Capitol building in Jackson. The school’s PTO was kind enough to provide funds for a charter bus. This donation made the trip very pleasant. The choir performed patriotic songs on the second floor of the Capitol adjacent to the rotunda. Afterwards all students and chaperones visited the state senate, which was in session. Legislators from our area made it a point to introduce themselves and greet the children. Teachers sponsoring the event were Earl Fox, music teacher and Susan Spiers, gifted teacher.
