POPLARVILLE — Poplarville got two more wins in two days in fast-pitch softball.

The Lady Hornets, ranked second in the state, are now an impressive 20-1 overall and 6-1 in Division 8-4A play.

On Friday, the MHSAA upheld Poplarville’s 1-0 rain shortened win over Long Beach from Thursday. Micah Davis drove in the only run for the Lady Hornets.

Saturday, Poplarville posted another 1-0 win over visiting Bay High as Megan Ladner got the win striking out 11 and Kayla Ross drove in Brandi Rester in the first inning for the game’s only run.

The Lady Hornets travel to Long Beach Monday and host D’Iberville Tuesday in two huge league games. The top four teams make the playoffs, which begin Saturday.
