Authorities are investigating why an eastbound freight train failed to stop in west Jackson before hitting a stationary train and sending two crew members to the hospital. The impact pushed several train cars off the tracks Thursday afternoon.
Jim Pollard with AMR ambulance service said the two unidentified men were transported from the scene.
Pollard described their injuries as “non-life-threatening.”
Jackson Police spokesman Lt. Jeffery Scott said both trains are owned by Kansas City Southern.
Both trains were hauling freight.
