Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Pascagoula has been awarded two contracts from the U.S. Navy worth $84.9 million.
A $76.6 million contract awarded this week calls for the Pascagoula facility to put together material kits to be sent to two destroyers’ homeports and provide design information for maintenance and modernization projects.
Maintenance and modification work on these ships, which have both been decommissioned, is expected to be completed by September 2009.
A second deal, an $8.2 million Office of Naval Research contract, calls for Northrop to provide material verification and detailed design for integrating antennas into naval platforms.
The research work is expected to be completed by February 2011.
