Picayune’s annex now offers retail service

As of Monday, the Picayune Postal Annex began offering retail services where people can purchase stamps, mail items and still pick up packages.
Doug Kyle, communications specialist for the United States Postal Service in Mississippi said the change is part of the need for services in the growing area of Picayune.
In the past, the annex at 6342 U.S. 11 North was used only to pick up packages people had missed. Growth in the north end of town and the promise of a new hospital have prompted the location to add retail services, Kyle said.
The increase of services at the annex will not mean a decrease in services at the main branch in downtown Picayune, Kyle said. The annex offering increased services will create a more convenient postal service location for people who live on the edge or outside of town.
“A lot of times more convenience amounts to more revenue,” Kyle said.
A grand opening ceremony will be held Monday, Sept. 22 to commemorate the new service. Hours for the new office will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, the office will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, Kyle said.
More questions about the branch can be answered by calling the branch directly at 601-798-2876.
