A Harrison County judge has sentenced William Lloyd Henderson to life without parole for the murder of Elizabeth New.
Prosecutors say Henderson robbed New and fatally shot her, leaving her bedridden husband to die of heat exposure.
The 68-year-old New was shot in the chest. Her husband, 66-year-old Phil Deming, was terminally ill with brain cancer. Their bodies were found in their residence February 9, 2007, nearly a week after their deaths.
The couple lived in a FEMA trailer park off Canal Road. Henderson lived in the park across the road from the couple and helped New care for her husband.
A second man was charged in the case but a grand jury declined to indict him.
The count involving Deming was passed to court files.
