Jeremy Lumpkin and the University of Kentucky cheer leading squad has cheered their way to victory for the 16th time.
Lumpkin has been cheering since his sophomore year at Picayune Memorial High School. While in school Jeremy used his free time to train with Eddie Young at Young’s gymnastics gym.
Upon graduating PMHS in 2004, he earned both an athletic and academic scholarship to attend Jones County Junior College. He studied, and eventually earned, an Associates degree in business in 2006.
Lumpkin currently studies Economics at the University of Kentucky on athletic and academic scholarships and continues his successful cheering career with one of the best cheering squads in America, the UK Wildcats.
In January, the team headed to the Universal Cheer Association National Championships, at Disney’s Wide World of Sports, and took their 16th title. No division 1A school has ever won back to back years twice, and no school has ever won eight straight championships.
This is Jeremy’s last year with the team and the University. He plans to graduate in December with a degree in Economics. His final competition with the team will be the Nationals in January of 2009.
