James Dobbins, an inmate who escaped from a work detail earlier this week, has been arrested in Memphis, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Dobbins, 28, was arrested Wednesday in Memphis. He was being held Thursday in the Shelby County jail pending his return to Mississippi, MDOC officials said in a statement.
Dobbins, a state inmate assigned to the Holmes County jail, left a road crew Tuesday in Durant.
MDOC officials said the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest.
Dobbins has been serving a 10-year sentence for an embezzlement conviction from Washington County. He could be sentenced to a maximum five years in prison if convicted of escape.
