Francis Guy Davis

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the New Palestine Cemetery for Francis Guy Davis, 77, of Picayune who passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007 in Slidell, La.

Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune.

Father Roger Hartline will officiate at the service.

A native of Virginia, he was a professional forester and a member of the Society of American Foresters, Council of State Foresters, past President of the MS Forestry Association, Forest Manager for St. Regis Paper Company in Picayune and Crosby, Miss. for 30 years. He later served as State Forester for the state of South Dakota for eight years until retirement.

He was preceded in death by one son, Francis Carson Davis.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Carson Davis of Picayune; three children, Guy E. Davis of Picayune, Theresa D. Alexander of Morton, Miss., and Martha D. Dossett of Picayune; four grandchildren, Michael Davis, Rebecca Davis, Adam Dossett and Sterling Alexander; two brothers, Jackson Davis of Arkansas, Joseph Davis of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Sarah Sargent of Oregon.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home.
