Hispanic man killed in Carriere on Sunday

A man died after a shooting in the Carriere community Sunday evening.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Deputies responded to a call of a shooting at about 9 p.m. at 33 W. Union Rd.. When deputies arrived, they found the victim dead on scene, according to a release from the department.
The victim was identified as Marvin Lopez, 21, of 33 W. Union Rd. Deputies then secured the scene and investigators were called out to work the area. After interviews with witnesses, investigators established a suspect, Miguel Angel Estrada, 32, no address available at this time.
Capt. Chris Lott said the incident allegedly sparked from an altercation. The two men were in the area doing labor, Lott said. The weapon suspected to have been used in the shooting is a .22-caliber handgun, he said.
Investigators secured an arrest warrant for Estrada for the charge of murder and are currently seeking for his whereabouts. Information can be directed to 601-798-5528, the release states.
