Friends of the Crosby Library host “The Future of Highland Hospital” program

PICAYUNE — The Friends of the Crosby Library are proud to present Highland Hospital Administrator – Mark Stockstill, as he gives an overview of the new hospital and its services. He will speak on the exciting future plans for the hospital and how the community can become involved in its anticipated growth. Mark Stockstill will entertain questions from the floor on the services of Highland Hospital. The program will be held Sunday, September 30th, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Holland Hall, at the Crosby Library.

The Friends’ speaker, Mark Stockstill, is a lifelong resident of Picayune. He graduated from Picayune Memorial High School in 1980. He is married to Tania Deleon; they have five children and one granddaughter. He has served with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department from 1981 through 1985. He worked at Mason Chamberlain from 1985 to 1987 and AAA Ambulance from 1986 to 1991.

He received an Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Pearl River Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain School of Nursing. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health from the American Military University. Stockstill served in the military in many capacities. Including the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion 12th Special Forces Unit, Ms. Army National Guard 890th Engineer Group, and from 1992-2005 as an officer in the U. S. Air Force Reserve Aerospace Medicine program.

He served as Highland’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) from October 2009 until his appointment as Administrator in Feb. 2011. Before assuming the role of COO, he served as Chief Nursing Officer at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, La. In this role, he was instrumental in promoting a culture of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. He also served in other leadership positions, including, Manager of Nursing Administration, Program Director for Total Wound Centers, and Critical Care Director.

He is also an active member of Rotary, where is served as the 2011 club president. He is a member of Resurrection Life Worship Center.

Presentation of a large bronze plaque from Crosby Memorial Hospital to the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library will be part of the program. The plaque will be housed in the Crosby Memorial Room of the library. This plaque is a very important part of the history of Picayune and the important contributions of the Crosby family. The library is very pleased to be chosen as the custodian of this very important plaque.

The Friends will serve refreshments and the public is invited. This program is free to the public.
