A collision Saturday evening resulted in the death of a Carriere resident.

The accident occurred Saturday just after 6:45 p.m. on Miss. 43 N. near Cybur Curve, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper First Class Roy Jacobsen.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene at about 6:48 p.m. where two vehicles collided on a curve along the state highway.

The accident ended in the death of 56-year-old Lawrence Higgins of Carriere, Jacobsen said. The driver and passenger in the second vehicle, both from Metarie La., suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Jacobsen said.
