Four charged with meth lab in Hancock County

PICAYUNE — An active methamphetamine lab was found by deputies with both the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department while they were looking for suspects wanted by Pearl River County.

According to a release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, its investigators were contacted by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department investigators and told that two individuals wanted in Pearl River County on various, unspecified charges were said to be in Hancock County on Broad Ridge Road in Deer Park.

The two suspects, identified as 37-year-old Tamara East of Carriere and 38-year-old William Stockstill of Picayune, were wanted on warrants with the sheriff’s department, the release states. Hancock County narcotics agents met with two Pearl River County deputies and went to the home where the suspects were believed to be staying. East and Stockstill were found at the home and arrested without incident.

Consent to search the home was granted and during the search the officers found an active methamphetamine lab along with large amounts of precursor materials, the release states. Because of what the search uncovered, 41-year-old Ronald Cuevas and 31-year-old Ashley Howell, both of Broad Ridge Drive, were taken into custody, and a minor child found at the home was placed in the custody of the state Department of Human Services.

Corrections officers at the Hancock County jail also found a bag of methamphetamine in Stockstill’s sock, the release states.

East was charged with possession of precursor chemicals, generation of hazardous waste, a contempt of court warrant in Hancock County and a hold was placed on her by Pearl River County for charges she faces in Pearl River County. Stockstill was charged with possession of precursor chemicals, generation of hazardous waste, possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility and a hold was placed on him by Pearl River County for charges faced in the county.

Cuevas was charged with possession of precursor chemicals and generation of hazardous waste. A hold was placed on him by Louisiana Probation and Parole, the release states. Howell was charged with possession of precursor chemicals and generation of hazardous waste.
