PICAYUNE —
(EDITOR’S NOTE: Ray Bennett has announced his candidacy and released this statement.)
I am Ray Bennett, running for Constable in the special election on Nov. 6. I was born and raised in Nicholson. My parents were Benjamin and Edwina Seal Bennett. I have two children, Bobby Ray Bennett and Christa Lynn Bennett Groom.
I am retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard in Picayune with twenty-six years of service. I was the constable of the Southeast District for 12 years. I have thirty years experience in law enforcement and security. I graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy at Pearl, and received re-certification in 2000 after being elected to constable. I have also received additional law enforcement training over the past several years. I am currently employed with the Picayune Municipal Separate School District, and have been for over 19-1/2 years.
As Constable of the Southeast District, I will serve as bailiff for Pearl River County Justice Court. I will continue to serve summons and subpoenas in a timely manner, as I have in the past. I want to thank you for your support in the past and would like to take this opportunity to ask for your continued support.
